CM2 Certification Courses
Globally Recognized Certifications
We teach the core concepts of this methodology in a six-course series that results in a globally recognized CM2-Comprehensive Certification. Following a CM2-C, our CM2-Professional track courses expand on the core concepts and teach practical application. Our virtual instructor-led and online self-paced courses provide flexibility so an individual learner can create a training schedule that meets their schedule. Private courses can be provided for teams with as few as four members.
CM2-Comprehensive: Courses CM2-01 through CM2-06

How an organization identifies, structures, links and assigns ownership to its requirements and internal processes directly affects its ability to successfully and efficiently perform the intended mission or achieve its…
CM2-02 | Requirements and the CM2 Baseline
Requirements management is the foundation for the Digital Thread. Organizations struggle with the ability to define and maintain the digital architecture needed to support Software, Hardware, Systems, Facilities…
CM2-03 | Fundamentals of Change Management
Organizations continually struggle to define a change process that is fast and efficient while accommodating change based on their needs. Many organizations have changed or replaced their change process multiple…
CM2-04 | The CM2 Change Process
The inability of an organization to successfully manage their datasets ties directly back to their inability to effectively manage change. Most organizations have subject matter experts (SMEs) identified for each key discipline…
CM2-05 | The Complexities of Lifecycle Sustainment
All organizations struggle with the ability to manage information accurately for the enterprise or throughout the deliverable lifecycle. This failure creates a high level of intervention resource expenditure and an inability…
CM2-06 | Enterprise CM2 Implementation
Organizations continue to be disappointed with the results of efforts to implement improvements to legacy PDM, PLM, and/or ERP systems. Even when opportunities for specific improvements are identified, they struggle with the…
CM2-01 | Foundation of Operational Excellence
How an organization identifies, structures, links and assigns ownership to its requirements and internal processes directly affects its ability to successfully and efficiently perform the intended mission or achieve its business objectives.
CM2-02 | Requirements and the CM2 Baseline
Requirements management is the foundation for the Digital Thread. Organizations struggle with the ability to define and maintain the digital architecture needed to support Software, Hardware, Systems, Facilities, and Infrastructure throughout the entire lifecycle. The inability to effectively manage the Digital Thread creates a high level of corrective action in every phase of the lifecycle.
CM2-03 | Fundamentals of Change Management
Organizations continually struggle to define a change process that is fast and efficient while accommodating change based on their needs. Many organizations have changed or replaced their change process multiple times without understanding the dynamics of change or the building blocks needed to facilitate change management.
CM2-04 | The CM2 Change Process
The inability of an organization to successfully manage their datasets ties directly back to their inability to effectively manage change. Most organizations have subject matter experts (SMEs) identified for each key discipline, but rarely do organizations have an SME focused on the management of change.
CM2-05 | Complexities of Lifecycle Sustainment
All organizations struggle with the ability to manage information accurately for the enterprise or throughout the deliverable lifecycle. This failure creates a high level of intervention resource expenditure and an inability to track fielded configurations. This drives significant warranty, recall, and concession costs that can have devastating impacts on the business. This course is about the linkages that enable the digital thread and understanding the gaps between product development, factories, and the service organizations.
CM2-06 | Enterprise CM2 Implementation
Organizations continue to be disappointed with the results of efforts to implement improvements to legacy PDM, PLM, and/or ERP systems. Even when opportunities for specific improvements are identified, they struggle with the ability to achieve successful implementation. These improvement projects are oftentimes reduced in scope and still experience cost overruns and missed schedules.

Practical and Actionable
Traditional configuration management is a siloed Engineering approach and limits the application of CM principles. CM2 is practical and actionable. It expands the scope of CM to include all information that could impact safety, security, quality, schedule, cost, profit, the environment, corporate reputation, and brand recognition.
CM2 goes beyond configuration management to provide the 7 key elements for driving enterprise success supported by
enabling software solutions:
→ Requirements Management
→ Change Management
→ Release Management
→ Data Management
→ Documents Management
→ Records Management

Voice of Our Graduates
“Get your people trained in CM2. And then start the project with a manageable set of things you want to accomplish, and then plan to always improve. That’s the biggest thing I can take away from this. We’ve retooled our entire engineering support department to support PLM long term. And so, we can always add functionality. I have a line a mile long of different people in the company that want to add functionality, and I never thought we would have that.”
Neil Olivier, NuScale
“This training is tremendous and could be the [most] valuable training I have taken in my almost 40 year career.”
Jamie C., Biotechnology company
“I wanted to send a note of thanks to you and the IpX team for such a great training. The team’s ability to be flexible with the delivery method in light of current circumstances was well received. I can honestly say that I feel that the quality of the training was not diminished in the slightest, which speaks volumes about the skill and passion of your team…well done! So much of what was covered resonates and I look forward to putting my new found knowledge into practice.
Enterprise Medical Device Organization
“I have come to believe that CM on its own fails to deliver the value that it promises because CM discipline in a company depends not only on the efforts of CM professionals but also on the collective awareness and willingness of everyone to “do the right thing”. CM2 not only starts by establishing this fact on a very solid foundation but also offers real, practical and efficient methods to keep all information “clear, concise and valid”.
Baris Kocabaşoğlu, FNSS
“When I think about how CM2 has benefitted my career, the first thing that comes to mind is Respect. Having a CM2 Professional certification has allowed me to be recognized as a subject matter expert. In addition, and a very important benefit, is having the support of the IpX team and the Congress Members. Their collective knowledge goes far beyond my individual knowledge. And often, just getting the validation from them that I am on the right path enhances my performance and respect for the position I hold.”
